Arlington is also a center for arts,
entertainment, and culture. Arlington was the home of renowned sculptor
Cyrus E. Dallin. Dallin's
work includes the Appeal To
The Great Spirit, which can be seen in front of the Museum of Fine Arts
in Boston, and also behind President Clinton's desk in the Oval Office. You
also have to love a five square mile two Starbucks
town (327 Broadway & 1465 Massachusetts Avenue, next to Trader Joe's) as
well as three Dunkin' Donuts, Carberry's Bakery & Coffee House (594 Massachusetts
Avenue)... though real coffee lovers know the place for coffee and pastries
is the Quebrada Baking Company
(208 Massachusetts Avenue).

ARLINGTON
BY THE NUMBERS |
Arlington
was moved into the new
781 area code, now split into the 781 and 339 area code. This map
looks worse than a Gerrymandered
congressional district Neighboring communities (Somerville, Cambridge, Belmont)
are in a different area code, but we share area codes with Kingston. Look for
lots of wrong numbers in Brooklyn (area
code 718). Seems
that every time the telephone company changes names we go through area code
confusion as well. Good old New England Telephone had everyone together in 617,
Bell Atlantic brought us 781. and now Verizon added 338 and ten digit dialing.
Please, Verizon, don't change names again. It's tough keeping up with the area
codes!
If that isn't bad enough, the USPS changed Arlington's ZIP codes. The new zip codes begin with the 024 prefix. The postal service split Arlington into these zip codes.
